SAN DIEGO, CA: Sentek Global, a leading provider of IT and cybersecurity services to the Department of Defense is proud of having sponsored the AFCEA NOVA 19th Annual Naval IT Day and their STEM outreach initiatives.
The AFCEA NOVA 19th Annual Naval IT Day took place on Wednesday, October 7, 2020 with Sentek Global’s very own Business Unit Director, Ryan Cox, as the event chairman and emcee.
This year’s theme was “Accelerated Modernization with Emerging Technologies.” The Naval Services leadership discussed their strategies, plans on approaching challenges, and where industry can support modernization activities. The event also had a virtual expo, one on one meeting capabilities, and virtual networking at the end of the day.
The day was kicked off by Aaron Weis, Department of the Navy (DON) Chief Information Officer and his team. They spoke on the DON Information Superiority Vision, with its emphasis on modernizing our infrastructure, innovating to deploy new capabilities, and defending our information. With Naval IT Day having a large industry partner audience, he discussed the role of the defense industrial base in defending DON information.
Over 400 people attended the first ever virtual event and the first IT day of the year. The AFCEA chapter also has four more IT Days planned for the year. Next events that are planned are a Small Business Enterprise IT day, Air Force IT day, Army IT day, and an Intelligence Community IT Day. All of the profits from this IT Day went towards STEM initiatives. We are proud to announce that we, in conjunction with the AFCEA NOVA Education Foundation, exceeded the budget in planned STEM outreach for students in Northern Virginia!
