Sentek Global and the University of San Diego Shiley-Marcos School of Engineering Center for CyberSecurity Engineering and Technology present Cyber Scouts – a Cybersecurity Training for Girl Scout Cyber Heroes.
About the Girl Scouts’ STEM and Cybersecurity badge program:
Girl Scouts gives girls opportunities to take the lead in the world of science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) through hands-on “learning by doing” in a girl-focused, girl-led environment. Resources include Girl Scouts of the USA’s lineup of 30 new badges addressing some of society’s most pressing needs—including cybersecurity, environmental advocacy, and space exploration.
Girl Scouts San Diego is dedicated to engineering tomorrow’s leaders—and recently pledged to provide 10,000 local Girl Scouts per year with one-of-a-kind STEM career exploration experiences by 2020.
Closing the STEM Gap
Today, the majority of college graduates (57%) and master’s level graduates (60%) are women, and nearly half of our country’s workforce are women. Despite this progress, female representation still remains extremely low in STEM fields. Girl Scouts San Diego is on a mission to fill the STEM workforce pipeline by providing even more girls with leadership and learning opportunities.
